Pag-asa Steel seeks a Purchaser who will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with suppliers and enabling the company to source goods and services of the right quality, at the right time, from the right supplier, at the right price.
Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting and managing all activities to ensure the continuous supply of equipment spare parts, material services, and other needs of the manufacturing plant and the offices at the optimal price for the quality needed Initiating sourcing of new suppliers for new products and services required Selecting and accrediting suppliers by inspecting facilities and conducting reference checks Managing relationships with existing suppliers Conducting a review of existing contracts Ensuring proper document control and accurate data entry in the system Negotiating terms and updating contracts Coordinating with end users and other stakeholders in the business to gather requirements and feedback Creating and analyzing research and reports as needed Performing other related tasks that may be assigned by supervisor
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering an advantage), Business, Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant prior experience At least two (2) to five (5) years of purchasing for a manufacturing or construction set-up, with experience in planning and inventory control a plus Knowledge of standard purchasing procedures Knowledge of contract management (legal background preferred) Technical knowledge of manufacturing set-up preferred Familiarity with importation and customs preferred Strong negotiation skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong numerical ability Good driving skills Proficiency in Chinese (Fookien and/or Mandarin) or experience working with Chinese suppliers an advantage Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Service orientation, outstanding interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work independently Project management, risk management, and time management skills Ability to multi-task, adapt, and learn quickly Superior organization skills and attention to detail Computer proficiency Microsoft office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and email software mandatory, experience with ERP software a plus Drive, motivation, and positive attitude (willingness to accept feedback, learn, and improve) Integrity, excellence, professionalism, and teamwork
