BAYANIHANPH, University Expand Pathways to Education Through Digital Giving

The University and BAYANIHANPH Web Portal Services Inc. through the Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance (OSFA) of the University are expanding opportunities for underserved and deserving students through a partnership that harnesses digital crowdfunding to provide educational assistance to qualified PUP scholars.

The two institutions formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on September 25, 2026, at the Scholarly Lounge, Ground Floor, Claro M. Recto Building, PUP Sta. Mesa Campus, Manila.

The partnership introduces BAYANIHANPH’s “Adopt a Scholar, Donate for the Future” program to the University community, providing a digital crowdfunding platform where benefactors and donors can extend financial support to qualified PUP scholars.

BAYANIHANPH Web Portal Services Inc., whose mission is to make it easier for people to help one another, operates as a crowdfunding platform that connects individuals and organizations with beneficiaries who need support. Through the partnership, the platform will serve as an avenue for donors to contribute to the educational journey of students who face financial challenges.

Representing the University during the MOU signing was Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Prof. Tomas O. Testor, together with Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance Director Engr. Ana Liza R. Publico. BAYANIHANPH Web Portal Services Inc. was represented by its CEO and President, Mr. Felix Tobillo Jr.

Testor highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for students who may have limited financial resources but remain committed to pursuing their education.

“Let us give hope to our students—the underprivileged but deserving students,” Testor said.

He also emphasized the lasting impact of education as a form of support, noting, “When we give them education, its impact will be long-lasting.”

Through the digital platform, the partnership seeks to widen access to educational assistance by connecting deserving scholars with individuals and organizations willing to help. It provides another avenue for the community to contribute to students’ education and help them continue their academic journey despite financial challenges.

For Tobillo, the collaboration represents more than an institutional partnership. It reflects a shared commitment to creating opportunities for Filipino students to pursue their aspirations through education.

“This is more than a partnership; it is a commitment to giving deserving Filipino students an opportunity to continue their education and achieve their dreams,” Tobillo said.

The initiative reinforces the spirit of bayanihan by transforming individual acts of generosity into collective support for education. By providing a digital platform for giving, BAYANIHANPH makes it possible for more people to participate in supporting students and contributing to their future.

The partnership likewise reflects the University’s commitment to “Mula sa’yo, Para sa bayan,” where the contributions, talents, resources, and generosity of individuals are translated into opportunities that benefit the Filipino people. In bringing together donors, scholars, and institutions, the collaboration demonstrates how collective action can help create pathways toward a more inclusive and equitable society.

By expanding access to educational assistance, the initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), 4 (Quality Education), 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). It addresses financial barriers that may affect students’ ability to pursue higher education, supports underserved communities, promotes inclusive access to learning opportunities, and strengthens partnerships between the academe, private sector, and broader community.

Through BAYANIHANPH’s digital giving platform, bayanihan moves beyond a shared value and becomes a concrete opportunity for deserving students to continue their education and build a future for themselves and the nation—mula sa’yo, para sa bayan.
