A group of exceptional Open University System (OUS) broadcasting students made their mark at the 1st Vlogging Competition for Communication Students, organized by EdukCircle, after winning the Silver Award on October 21, 2023, held at GT Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, University of the Philippines Diliman.
Kahilwayan Productions, a group of second-year students Giezel Faith Pascua, Nathalie Cher Domingo, Krysta Ann Buenafe, Jereylene Bernil, Hershey Napoles, Olirie Vae Dayrit, Kien Manuntag, Peachie Pacheca, Frince Carl Fortunado, Ace Marimla, Aiya Gonzales, Mark Jhonsen Moises Bognot, Gillian Diaz, Raymond Jerome De Guzman, Jewel Lopena, and Airish Aliento won the award for their thought-provoking Vlog titled “Broadkadialogs.”
The vlog addresses the pressing issue of social media trolling and its ramifications on Philippine society. In a time when the digital landscape plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion and discourse, the vlog provided a refreshing and critical perspective. Through engaging visuals, relatable storytelling, and well-researched content, Kahilwayan Productions effectively communicated its message to the audience. Their vlog not only highlighted the problem but also offered potential solutions and called for responsible and ethical online behavior.
The competition was participated by representatives from 15 other institutions.
