The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) signs a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Rotary Club of Loyola Heights (RCLH) and Megaworld Foundation, Inc. for the PUP Pamantasang Bayan - Education on Wheels Program of the University held on September 17 and October 29, 2021, respectively.
Under the agreement, signed by PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, RCLH Club President Mr. Herminaldo Merino, and Megaworld Foundation, Inc. President Dr. Francisco C. Canuto, RCLH and Megaworld Foundation Inc. shall oversee the completion of the PUP Pamantasang Bayan - Education on Wheels; provide Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanism to get the necessary feedback on the option of the program; recommend qualified faculty/trainers who will help conduct and/ or operate the program; and organize activities to supplement learnings through the alternative classroom learning experience, webinars, etc.
RCLH is a non-government organization (NGO) that aims to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy while Megaworld Foundation Inc. is a non-government organization (NGO) that aims to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy. It also aims to carry out service projects which enhance economic and productive work for young and old.
PUP Education on Wheels (EOW) - Pamantasang Bayan is the newest extension project of the University. This bus converted into a spacious classroom will house around 30 students from partner communities.
EOW, along with other extension programs of the University, aims to help out-of-school youth from farther places in the country receive quality education provided by PUP. Aside from providing quality education nearer these communities, the University, through its generous donors, will also be providing food allowance to the students, ensuring that their well-being is taken care of during the duration of the course.
