The Polytechnic University of the Philippines - University Center for Culture and the Arts (PUP UCCA) continues to dominate the national music scene as two of its resident ensembles won grand championship titles in separate prestigious competitions, achieving a historic back-to-back victory for the university.
On December 6, 2025, the PUP Bagong Himig Serenata was crowned Grand Champion in the TV5 Tinig ng Pasko 2025 Grand Finals School Chorale Competition held at Gateway Mall 2, Cubao, Quezon City. They also secured the Grand Champion title in the Carols in the Walls Choral Competition organized by the Intramuros Administration.
Meanwhile, the LAVA PIE Band, the junior ensemble of the renowned PUP PolySound Band, emerged as Grand Champion in the Live Your Dream University Caraband Grand Finals.
“These back-to-back victories are a testament to the extraordinary talent, discipline, and passion of our students and directors,” said officials from the PUP UCCA. “They bring honor not only to the university but also to the country through their artistry.”
The Bagong Himig Serenata dedicated its Tinig ng Pasko win to its alumni, mentors, families, and the entire PUP community, with special acknowledgment to arranger Sir Rodiño Mendoza and the unwavering support of UCCA and university officials.
“From one melody, for the nation — Mula sa isang himig, para sa Bayan,” the ensemble shared in its victory message.
