The College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD) conducted the Professorial Chairholder Lecture on Geopolitics & Public Administration on September 30, 2021, live via the PUP-CSSD Facebook page.
The Professorial Chairholder Lecture was delivered by Professor Richard H. Heydarian where he discussed “At a Crossroads: Philippines, China, and the Post-American World.”
Prof. Heydarian is a multi-awarded public educator, academic, columnist, and political adviser. He is currently serving as a resident political analyst of GMA Network and a columnist for the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Prof. Heydarian published his latest book titled “The Rise of Duterte: A populist Revolt against Elite Democracy,” which was identified as one of The Financial Times’ best of weekend-long reads’ and as one of the superb monographs on the Duterte Phenomenon. His recent works include “The Indo-Pacific Age: Trump, China, and the New Global Struggle for Mastery” and the “Duterte’s Foreign Policy.”
In his remark, CSSD Dean Dr. Raul Roland Sebastian mentioned the importance of history in Geopolitics. He encouraged the participants to check the international laws and treaties signed by the Philippines and the executive issuances by previous administrations and analyze how it affects our foreign relations.
The webinar was attended by the students, faculty members, alumni association under the College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD), and College of Political Science and Public Administration (CPSPA).
