Christopher Andres, a faculty member from the Open University System and the official layout artist of the Communication Management Office, clinched the first prize in the esteemed FIBA Photo Competition with his captivating entry titled “Building Bridges Through Basketball Competition.” This remarkable achievement has earned Andres the prestigious role of serving as the official photographer for the highly anticipated 2024 FIBA Open in Switzerland.
The FIBA Photo Contest, held from December 21, 2023, to February 21, 2024, has emerged as one of the largest basketball-related photo contests globally, attracting participants from 98 countries in 2022.
“It is indeed an honor and a privilege to have my work recognized by FIBA. I am thrilled by the opportunity to be the official photographer of the FIBA Open 2024 in Switzerland. It would be a great experience to contribute to such a significant event in the basketball community,” Andres shared in his Facebook post.
Now in its seventh edition, the FIBA photo competition celebrates the theme of “Basketball For Good,” aligning with the inaugural World Basketball Day, officially proclaimed by the United Nations. This international day acknowledges basketball’s positive social impact, fostering unity, communication, and promoting values of peace and well-being.
Prizes for the FIBA Photo Contest include valuable photographic equipment, along with the exclusive opportunity to serve as the official photographer for the 2024 FIBA Open. Andres will also receive complimentary accommodation and travel, in addition to having his work published in the esteemed 2023 FIBA Photo Book.
