Marking its first anniversary, the Technology Business Incubation and Development Office (TBIDO) partnered with MakeSense Incorporated on July 11, 2025, to conduct the Green Movers Workshop: Exploring Green Jobs and Sustainable Careers. Held in hybrid format, the workshop aimed to empower student-led startups and support the development of technology-driven prototypes, highlighting the intersection of innovation and environmental sustainability.
From the outset, TBIDO’s vision has been clear: to catalyze the next generation of leaders by creating programs that ignite entrepreneurial spirit, bridge communities, attract strategic partners, and generate actionable knowledge through technology. The Green Movers Workshop embodied this mission by providing hands-on sessions on sustainable business models, expert panel discussions on the green economy, and pitching clinics that challenged participants to combine ecological responsibility with market viability.
Beyond empowering individual startups, the workshop emphasized a broader advocacy: supporting the national agenda for sustainable development. With a total of 220 attendees joining both online and face-to-face, participants learned how green career pathways can raise environmental awareness and why embedding sustainability into educational programs is vital for workforce resilience. By fostering collaboration among students, educators, community partners, and government agencies, the event laid the foundation for a thriving ecosystem where technology and nature advance in harmony.
“At its heart, Green Movers celebrates a bold idea — technology as a force for environmental good. While progress often involves the risk of ecological sacrifice, this partnership has shown that true innovation does not have to come at nature’s expense. From students’ mind-boggling pitches for biodegradable sensors to apps empowering local farmers, each green startup championed at the workshop proved that business growth and environmental care can flourish hand in hand,” Dr. Juancho D. Espineli, Chief of the Technology Development Section remarked.
As TBIDO and MakeSense look ahead, their commitment remains unwavering: to open doors to sustainable opportunities, strengthen environmental advocacy, and power careers that begin with a spark of creativity and grow into catalysts for a greener tomorrow, anchored on the University’s vision and mission, and its foray into the sustainable development goals.
