The APAIE 2024 Conference and Exhibition, held from March 4th to 8th at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in Australia, was a significant event for the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE). Originating over 20 years ago in South Korea, this annual gathering has evolved into a pivotal platform for educators worldwide to convene, exchange ideas, and foster collaboration.
With the theme “Collaborating for Sustainable Impact: Partnerships Across the Asia Pacific,” this year’s event underscored the importance of collective action in addressing contemporary challenges. Hosted by five universities in Western Australia, the conference welcomed over 2,500 delegates from various corners of the globe.
The Philippines made a notable presence at APAIE 2024, led by representatives from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Universities such as Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) showcased their commitment to delivering quality education.
Among the Philippine delegates, PUP stood out for its active engagement. Representatives like Dr. Jonna Karla C. Bien and Ms. Felicitas C. Trinidad participated in networking sessions and discussions, demonstrating PUP’s eagerness to establish international partnerships.
PUP also seized opportunities to engage with EduCanada and participate in roundtable discussions alongside Philippine and Canadian universities. These engagements allowed PUP to highlight its strengths, learn from others, and explore potential collaborations.
