The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), the largest university in the country in terms of population, is the newest partner of ABS-CBN for the upcoming national and local elections on May 9, 2016.
Led by Dr. Emanuel De Guzman, president of PUP, and Regina Reyes, head of ABS-CBN Integrated News and Current Affairs, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between the two parties in a program held Monday.
In a message after the signing of the MOA, Reyes thanked the entire community of PUP for choosing ABS-CBN as its partner in ensuring honest and clean elections.
"Ngayon ay masasabi nating talagang officially Kapamilya na rin natin ang PUP sa ating isinusulong sa Halalan 2016," Reyes said. "We take every election seriously in ABS-CBN. It is not a mere news story that we report on but a campaign to help inform our voters and to give them stories and a discussions on issues that would enlighten them."
Reyes said that with the partnership, ABS-CBN will strengthen its advocacy of arming Filipino voters with information to help them decide in choosing the next leaders of the country.
Meanwhile, De Guzman said it is an honor for PUP to be working with ABS-CBN.
"Kung ang ABS-CBN ay tahanan ng pamilyang Pilipino, ang PUP ay tahanan ng mga tunay na iskolar ng bayan," the university president said.
PUP has more than 70,000 students in its more than 24 branches across the country.
PUP became the eighth partner school of ABS-CBN for the upcoming elections, along with the University of the Philippines, Ateneo De Manila University, University of Sto. Tomas, and others.
