Dangal ng Bayan, Kawaning PUPian: PUP hosts PESDI Awards

Faculty and administrative personnel from different colleges and campuses of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) gathered for the Professional Enhancement and Skills Development Incentive (PESDI) Awarding Ceremony on November 13, 2024, at Bulwagang Balagtas to acknowledge their unwavering dedication and service for the University.

With the theme “PUP@120: Dangal ng Bayan, Kawaning PUPian,” the PESDI Awards honor the colleges and campuses of the university for their exceptional performance and significant contributions to the PUP’s growth and development.

As part of our 120th Founding Anniversary, Atty. Gemy Lito L. Festin, Dean of PUP College of Law and Chairperson of the PUP Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee, highlighted and honored the employees’ commitment to their jobs.

“Nawa’y magsilbing paalala ang okasyong ito na patuloy tayong maging huwaran ng integridad, kahusayan, at malasakit sa bawat gawain natin. Sama-sama nating ipagpatuloy ang misyon na magbigay ng kalidad na edukasyon at serbisyong may puso para sa bawat Pilipino,” he said.

“May this occasion serve as a reminder for us to continue being role models of integrity, excellence, and compassion in everything we do. Together, let us carry on the mission of providing quality education and heartfelt service to every Filipino.”

Following Festin’s remarks, PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi expressed his gratitude to the awardees, saying, “Ito po ay dahil sa inyong lahat na naging bahagi sa pagbibigay ng buhay, paglalaan ng oras at serbisyo, at higit sa lahat, ang pagmamahal sa ating Sintang Paaralan. We are proud to have all of you as members of the working force of our Sintang Paaralan”.

“This is all because of each one of you who has been part of bringing life, dedicating time and service, and most importantly, showing love for our beloved University. We are proud to have all of you as members of the working force of our beloved University.”

Meanwhile, former Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Efren M. De La Cruz, in his keynote address, emphasized the essence of doing everything to the best of one’s abilities.

“To the awardees, as you receive your deserved awards today, it is hoped that you will not rest on your laurels but shall continue to pursue greater acts for the sake of our Bayang Pilipinas and our people. And that you will continue to display excellence and shine examples worthy of admiration and inspiration to others,” he said.

The 2024 PESDI Awards, as led by the PUP PRAISE Committee, are divided into distinct seven categories: (1) employees who had contributed to the achievement of academic excellence that gave prestige to the university; (2) employees who had contributed to the achievement of non-academic excellence that gave prestige to the university; and (3) employees who undertook a substantial level of additional work and responsibility and worked long hours without pay during periods that they are understaffed. Additionally, awards were also given to (4) employees who exerted efforts that contributed to increased assets and revenues of the University; (6) employees who had displayed an excellent level of customer service demonstrated by positive feedback from clients; and lastly, (7) employees who through their exceptional efforts gained accreditation or quality standard and international recognition for the university.

The said ceremony was graced by a total of 110 teaching and non-teaching personnel, reflecting its significance. They each received certificates and plaques as tokens of recognition and appreciation for their contributions.

As the event concluded, Executive Vice President Prof. Alberto Guillo then delivered his closing remarks.

“After performance and skill enhancements are realized and created increased productivity at work, performance recognition should, or shall I say, must follow. Great people feel valued and appreciated for their contributions,” he said.

The recent ceremony did not only celebrate the remarkable achievements of PUP’s dedicated personnel in the last 120 years but also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to excellence and service, inspiring all to continue striving for greater heights.
