In observance of the 52nd Nutrition Month, the Philippine Association of Nutrition – Alpha Epsilon Chapter (PAN-AEC), in collaboration with the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, successfully conducted a five-day celebration from July 1 to 7, 2026 which highlighted the importance of proper nutrition, healthy lifestyles, academic excellence, and community engagement. The celebration also supported the goals of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028, the country's framework for improving the nutritional status of Filipinos through coordinated nutrition education, health promotion, and community-based interventions.
Anchored on the annual Nutrition Month celebration and aligned with the priorities of the PPAN 2023–2028, the week-long initiative brought together students, faculty members, alumni, industry partners, and the PUP community in a series of activities that promoted nutrition as a shared responsibility and an essential foundation for individual well-being and national development.
The celebration commenced with PANlaro at PANliksihan, featuring the Tanglaw ng mga Lahi Parade, Nutri-Zumba, the NDtamed Yell Competition, traditional Filipino games, and Nutri-Sports. These activities encouraged physical fitness while strengthening camaraderie, teamwork, and school spirit among participants.
The following activities shifted the spotlight to learning and academic enrichment through PANtalakayan, where experts led discussions on Philippine agriculture, food justice, food sovereignty, and emerging nutrition issues. Documentary screenings, student-produced infomercials, and interactive learning sessions further deepened participants' appreciation of the role of nutrition in building healthier and more sustainable communities.
Students also showcased their knowledge, creativity, and professional competencies during PANtagisan, which featured the Nutri-Chef Cook-Off, Quiz Bee, Essay Writing Contest, and E-Sports competitions. These events provided meaningful opportunities for participants to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed through their academic training.
Excellence and leadership were likewise recognized during GraND PANsiklaban, where students received academic and special awards for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the organization. The program also featured student testimonials, cultural performances, and fellowship activities that celebrated the collective accomplishments of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics.
The celebration culminated on July 7 with "PANkalusugang Serbisyo: Mula Sa'yo Para kay Sinta!" During the University's Flag Ceremony, PUP PAN-AEC and the College of Science, together with Mr. and Ms. College of Science 2026, Bench Michael Salas and Auleli Jonina Fernandez of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, led nutrition advocacy activities, including a vibrant song-and-dance performance of Makulay ang Buhay. More importantly, the culminating activity extended free nutrition counseling and nutrition education services to PUP students, faculty members, and employees, reinforcing the University's commitment to promoting health and wellness within the campus community.
"Every project, every activity, and every initiative should always carry the purpose of promoting nutrition and bringing people together. Through service, we cultivate future leaders who will continue advancing our advocacy," said Kristle Joy Rentoria, outgoing President of PUP PAN-AEC.
Through its observance of Nutrition Month, PUP PAN-AEC reaffirmed its commitment to developing competent and socially responsible future nutrition professionals. The five-day celebration advanced the objectives of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028 by promoting nutrition education, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement. It also supported SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being),
and SDG 4 (Quality Education) while embodying the University's INSPIRED Core Values of Passion for Learning and Innovation, Sense of Service, Inclusivity, and Excellence.
