Deloitte Philippines and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) committed to work together in exploring opportunities to contribute to the success of Sintang Paaralan’s students and alumni. The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on December 14, 2023 at the Mateo Conference Hall, Sta. Mesa Campus.
President Manuel Muhi led the PUP delegation, supported by College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF) Dean Julieta Fonte, CAF professor and Chair of the Department of Accountancy Noel Bergonia; CAF professor and Student Council Faculty Adviser Mark Perlas; AVP for Student Affairs and Services Engr. Florinda Oquindo; and Dean of College of Business Administration Dr. Cindy Soliman.
“Deloitte is special to PUP since many of our graduates work with this global organization. Our continuing partnership with them through the WorldClass program would further prepare our students to the world of work, while also providing effective support for our alumni. We’re excited for this partnership and we hope to collaborate with other organizations on these kinds of initiatives,” Dr. Muhi shared in an email interview.
Representing Deloitte Philippines during the MOA signing include Deloitte Southeast Asia Transfer Pricing Leader Carlo Navarro, Tax & Corporate Services Partner Senen Quizon, Audit & Assurance Partner and Clients & Markets Leader Melissa Delgado, and Managing Partner & CEO Atty. Eric Landicho.
WorldClass is Deloitte’s global CSR program that aims to develop job skills, improve educational outcomes, and expand opportunities for 100 million people worldwide by 2030 by tapping into the collective skills and knowledge of Deloitte professionals around the world. Under this program, Deloitte Philippines has agreed to tap its subject matter experts to deliver lectures on specialized topics for the students and professors of PUP’s College of Accountancy.
With the support of PUP’s professors, Deloitte Philippines will also roll out a number of WorldClass video learning tools – covering topics such as how to apply for and secure your target job; basics of cloud computing; business basics for first-time entrepreneurs; and the rules of modern work – that would benefit PUP students across various disciplines and the university’s alumni community.
“As the largest public university in the country and the alma mater of several of Deloitte’s key leaders and professionals, PUP is an important institution for Deloitte Philippines. The Firm is invested in the success of the university as a whole and its thousands of students and is committed to working with academic leaders in preparing their graduates to thrive in the new world of work,” Deloitte shared in an official statement.
