Beta Epsilon Sigma – Hiyas ng Silangan Foundation Inc. (BHFI) and Megaworld Foundation signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines for a scholarship program to support economically challenged but well-deserving PUPians.
The scholarship program intends to support students from the College of Accountancy and Finance (CAF) and College of Engineering (CE). This scholarship program will be a continuing grant to the scholars until graduation if their validated General Weighted Average (GWA) does not fall below the required GWA of the organization. Scholars who rank first in the board exam will also receive a one (1) million cash incentive and a trip for two (2) to the United States (US), as announced by the BHFI official, Mr. Oscar Jornacio.
According to BHFI, PUP was chosen as its partner because of the exemplary performance demonstrated by PUP alumni who work in their company. BHFI also believe that the economically challenged but academically brilliant PUP students need to be given chance to pursue higher education and finish their degrees.
“OSFA is very grateful to BES-HNS and Megaworld for choosing the PUP students as recipients of the scholarship program. OSFA acknowledges the support of the Foundation in attaining the mission of the university on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education” said Engr. Ana Liza R. Publico, Director of the University’s Office for Scholarships and Financial Assistance, in an email interview.
The MOA signing was graced by Atty. Lamberto Tagayuna, president of BHFI; Ms. Teresita I. Andres, Vice President, Student Affairs of BHFI; Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, PUP president; Mr. Tomas O. Testor, Vice President, Student Affairs of PUP; Engr. Ana Liza R. Publico, Director of the Office of the Scholarship and Financial Assitance of PUP; and PUP vice presidents Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman and Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin. BES-HNS and Megaworld counterparts include Mr. Mar Quinsaat, Mr. Mars Morale, Mr. Philip Judan, and Mr. Gil Palad.
