PUP hosted its highly anticipated Employees’ Day on October 8, 2024, putting a spotlight on holistic health and well-being. Employees were treated to a variety of Traditional and Complementary Healthcare (TAHC) services, demonstrating the university’s commitment to fostering a healthy and balanced work environment.
The wellness event was led by the esteemed TAHC practitioner Ronniel A. Seramines, CNP, MMPHA, DHM, PhD, alongside his dedicated team. Joining him was Dr. Webster Wilbert Lim, CMA, MD, President of the Philippine Academy of Acupuncture, Inc. (PAAI), who helped deliver a comprehensive suite of treatments.
The services included popular therapies such as Pinoy Hilot, acupuncture, chiropractic care, Guasha therapy, foot reflexology, and laser acupuncture, among others. Employees also had access to more specialized treatments like auricular therapy, bio zapper therapy, moxibustion, eyes spa, and even warts removal.
This initiative aligns with PUP’s long-standing efforts to prioritize the well-being of its employees by offering them access to both conventional and alternative healthcare. By doing so, the university empowers its staff to take a proactive role in their health through a blend of traditional and modern medical practices.
The event also reflected the growing recognition of TAHC in the Philippines as a valuable complement to conventional medicine, highlighting its potential to enhance individual and community health. As one of the pioneering institutions, PUP sets a benchmark for other organizations to adopt similar approaches for the welfare of their employees.
The event was made possible through the efforts of the PUP Institute of Continuing Professional Development (ICPD), part of the Open University System.
The ICPD, which is an accredited training center by the Department of Health Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (DOH-PITACH), is set to launch a new Certificate Course in Naturopathy in November 2024. This program will offer individuals a deeper understanding of natural healthcare practices, further expanding opportunities for holistic health education in the country.
