The Polytechnic University of the Philippines has joined the international observance of Menstrual Hygiene Day by collaborating with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in conducting a forum held at the Bulwagang Balagtas, Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resources Center, PUP Main Campus on May 28, 2018.
With the theme "From womb to tomb: Forum on Women's Health," the forum focused on breaking the myths and misconceptions about menstruation and menopause; and the importance of good menstrual hygiene, especially in disaster and conflict situations.
Among the speakers were Philippine General Hospital Adolescent Medicine fellow Dr. Natasha Esteban, University of the Philippines-Diliman College of Social Sciences and Philosophy Department of Anthropology Chairperson Dr. Soledad Natalia Dalisay, and Philippine Obstetrician and Gynecological Society Former President Dr. Ma. Carmen H. Quevedo.
The event was attended by participants from state universities and colleges, national government agencies, civil society organizations, and women's groups.
PUP Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Zenaida R. Sarmiento, Philippine Commission on Women Executive Director III Ms. Emmeline L. Versoza, and Modess Assistant Brand Manager Ms. Jessica Marie Bodo graced the event.
The forum was organized by the PCW in partnership with PUP, DBB Group Philippines, and Modess.
