Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) College of Architecture, Design, and the Built Environment (CADBE) bagged awards in an International Virtual Course hosted by the Institut Teknologi Bandung-Indonesia, in collaboration with the International Bamboo and Rattan Organisation (INBAR), from July 23 to August 4, 2021.
The virtual course titled “Parametric Bamboo For Post Disaster Reconstruction” was participated by undergraduate students of Bamboo Architecture Research and Design (BARD), graduate students of PUP CADBE, and students from other universities in Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Germany, and the Netherlands.
During the course, all participants were required to develop their projects and prepare for the final presentation in front of the panel of judges. PUP-CADBE students bagged awards including:

Several resource speakers, including two faculty members from PUP CADBE, Ar. Melodia Sampan and Ar. Eurydice Rayanna Chan, delivered presentations on the role of bamboos in disaster rehabilitation and recovery, the architectural beauty and possibilities of bamboos, the creation of bamboo models, recent developments in bamboo constructions, and post-disaster bamboo constructions.
