First Quarter PRC Board Exams Yield 404 Teachers, 28 Electrical Engineers for PUP

The January 2014 Licensure Examination for Teachers produced for the Polytechnic University of the Philippines 36 new elementary and 368 new secondary school teachers, giving the University 63.15% and 36.39% passing rates in the grade school and high school categories, respectively.

The University performed well in the first category which had a national passing percentage of 28.98%: PUP Manila, 100.00% (1); PUP Quezon, 37.50% (9); PUP Mariveles, 87.50% (7); PUP Cabiao, 75.00% (9); and PUP Mulanay, 83.33% (10). It also obtained the following results in the second category which had a national passing rate of 28.41%: PUP Manila, 55.02% (148); PUP Quezon, 9.09% (1); PUP Bansud, 31.82% (7); PUP Mariveles, 22.95% (14); PUP Calauan, 50.00% (12); PUP Commonwealth, 72.34% (34); PUP Lopez, 40.98% (25); PUP Maragondon, 24.64% (17); PUP Mulanay, 6.52% (3); PUP Ragay, 9.48% (11); PUP San Pedro, 59.09% (26); PUP Sta. Maria, 31.88% (22); PUP Sta. Rosa, 60.61% (20); PUP Sto. Tomas, 41.18% (14); PUP Taguig, 18.18% (2); and PUP Unisan, 12.77% (12).

Meanwhile, twenty eight hopefuls from PUP passed the February 2014 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination. PUP Sta. Mesa registered a 42.22% passing percentage by having 19 board passers; PUP Sto. Tomas, 44.44% (4); PUP Lopez, 16.67% (3); and PUP Maragondon, 20.00% (2). The national passing rate was 34.83%.

PUP was also able to produce 17 new master electricians and 13 new master plumbers in February 2014. The recent Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examination yielded 12 board passers from PUP Sta. Mesa, 2 from PUP Maragondon, and one each from PUP Mariveles, PUP Taguig and PUP Sto. Tomas. Ten of those who hurdled the latest Master Plumber Licensure Examination came from PUP Sta. Mesa and one each from PUP Lopez, PUP Maragondon and PUP Sta. Maria.

Twenty-one (21) alumni from PUP Sta. Mesa and PUP Maragondon passed the March 2014 Mechanical Engineer Licensure Examination in which the University had a 52.50 percent passing rate.
