ICPD organizes National Training on Office AdministrationRudolf Anthony A. Lacerna, News, Communication Management Office
The Institute of Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) under the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Open University System (OUS) organized a National Training on “Acquiring Efficient Office Administration and Secretarial Skills.” This was held on August 29 to 30 at the PUP Business Processing Outsourcing Center, Sta Mesa, Manila.
OUS Executive Director Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin and ICPD Director Dr. Rovelina B. Jacolbia welcomed the 58 participants from 14 different organizations namely PUP, Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Inc. (PhilHealth), Marikina Polytechnic College, Angelicum College, Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Sericulture Research and Development Institute, Bataan Peninsula State University, Tarlac Agricultural University, Camarines Sur Polytechnic College, Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Sorsogon State College, Western Mindanao State University, and Bukidnon State University.
In this training, six modules were discussed by experts in the field of Office Administration. On the first day, Prof. Avelina C. Bucao, the former president of the Philippine Association of Educators in Office Administration Foundation, Inc., tackled the module on “Handling Telephone Calls and Telephone Etiquette.” Meanwhile, the Dean of the College of Accountancy and Business of the National Teachers College Dr. Marlyn J. Mabalot dwelt on the modules on “Handling Visitors” and “Business Ethics of Frontliners.” Lastly, on the second day, the Human Resources Department Assistant Head of the Centro Escolar University Dr. Leny R. Dellosa explained the modules on “Understanding Records at Work”, “Establishing a File Record System” and “Time Management.”
After each module, workshops were facilitated by ICPD Training Section Chief Prof. Jessie Quierrez and Faculty Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Raquel G. Javier.
