The University has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Ecossential Foods Corp. (EFC) on May 10, 2024, at its Metro Manila Office in Pasig City to provide career development opportunities for PUP students. Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, Prof. Tomas O. Testor led the PUP delegation in this undertaking.
In the MOA Signing Ceremony, both parties have agreed to enter a Community Partnership Program to conduct activities such as Internships, On-the-Job Training (OJT), Student Immersions, Exchange of Knowledge on Information Sharing. This also includes Training for Faculty and Staff and Employee Success Stories, as well as EFC’s participation at university-led initiatives including Career Talk, Mock Recruitment, Job Fair, and Job Posting.
EFC President Stewart L. Ong stated that the company is keen on doing their part in nation-building by providing more employment and developing future industry leaders in the country.
“We hope that this takes the partnership to a whole new level because we believe that for us to be able to grow as a business, we really need competent and good leaders and good managers and good people. Basically, we believe that PUP, through the years, has top-notch graduates and we hope that we create inspiration. So, ayun ang ambag ng aming munting kompanya sa nation-building ng Pilipinas (So, this is the contribution of our small company towards the nation building),” Ong stated.
In addition, Ong heaped praises for Sintang Paaralan given their excellent student development. The company experienced the strength of PUPians as they work in different capacities in EFC such as HR, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT departments.
“We know that PUP has produced top notch graduate. In our company, we have hired several PUP alumni, and we are very happy so far with the experience, with the output of PUPians,” he said.
Alumni Relations and Career Development Office (ARCDO) Director Engr. Florinda H. Oquindo hopes that with this agreement and the other signed MOAs, the University will experience a great breakthrough in career and student development for the benefit of the Iskolar ng Bayan.
“Our aim here is to really strengthen our linkages and partnership with different industries because this will help us broaden our avenues, the opportunities that will help with the career development of our students.”
Aside from Oquindo and Ong, the PUP delegation include Career Development and Placement Services Chief Prof. Jane S. Pulma; and Alumni Relations Services Chief Prof. Ma. Joepe A. Solosa joined this event. Participating for the side of EFC are Human Resources & Organizational Development and Corporate Services Director Rhodora Tan, Audit and Compliance Manager Roland Cortez, and National Transport and Customer Service Manager EJ Santos.
