The Polytechnic University of the Philippines has been recognized as a new member of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), an alliance of universities located in member-countries of the regional organization Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
On January 30, 2025, PUP became an Associate Member University with a thematic affiliation to the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). The membership was granted after meeting standing eligibility requirements such as being recognized by a National Quality Assurance Agencies which is Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges & Universities in the Philippines Inc. (AACCUP) and a relevant Ministry of the country where the Higher Education Institution is registered and operated in Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
According to the Quality Assurance Center (QAC), the Sintang Paaralan will now have opportunities to be involved in their programs, and/or projects, and to develop joint initiatives with other partnering organizations of the AUN-QA members and network.
Additionally, the University can participate in Chief Quality Officers (CQOs) meetings and conferences. Its study programs will have the chance to be evaluated by the AUN-QA network. Moreover, PUP will be granted priority access to AUN-QA training workshops and courses, as well as the opportunity to exchange best practices and information on quality assurance.
Assistant Director for Institutional & International Quality Assurance of QAC, Prof. Rebecca E. Palma noted the benefits of the University’s inclusion into this noted organization, saying “joining the AUN-QA can positively make an impact on PUP because it promotes standardized quality, enhances international reputation, facilitates student and faculty mobility, encourages collaborative research, and enables easier credit transfer between member universities, ultimately leading to improved academic standards across the region.”
“AUN-QA also provides a framework for continuous improvement through comprehensive assessments that involve various stakeholders like students, alumni, and employers. All these are the major thrusts and priorities of the University which are the focus of the current administration of Pres. Muhi as spelled out in his University Development Plan 2024-2028.” Palma added.
University President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, in a statement, gave his deep gratitude to AUN and expressed his excitement towards the new venture towards partnering and networking with various ASEAN in terms of academic development.
