A total of 22 graduates were conferred their law degrees in the recently held College of Law virtual Year-End Commencement Exercises last July 15. Atty. Anna Marie Melanie B. Trinidad, Chairman of the Legal Education Board (LEB), served as the Keynote Speaker.
“Ang Iskolar ng bayan ay para sa bayan, to put the needs of Filipino people first more than one’s own to recognize the responsibility attached to the privileged of obtaining wisdom and to pursue a better society than that which one was born into that is an essence of being a iskolar ng bayan [sic]” said Atty. Trinidad, encouraging the new graduates to continue serving the nation with their hard-earned knowledge from law school.
She received the Tanglaw ng Bayan Award (Light of the Nation). It is the highest honor bestowed by the PUP on individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of the nation and its people.
Mr. Jayson Arellano Dela Victoria, the student speaker for the Class of 2022, spoke about the difficult but rewarding experiences of law school graduates. He also encouraged fellow graduates to persevere as the bar exam approaches.
“Sa law school ka lang makikita na ga-graduate na stress pa, sa paghanap at pag-ayos ng bar materials, financial matters, time constraints, haluan mo pa ng mahal na gas. But as a PUPian, we know that there is always a struggle in every victory and we are prepared for that struggle just like any other obstacles, as we never abandon the ship even if it becomes hopeless. Admittedly, we may not know will happen in the future; but one thing is certain every page we read is way closer where we want to be,” Dela Victoria said.
The new graduates are set to take the bar examination this November 2022.
