On September 30, 2026, PUP Balik Sinta welcomed returning and new Iskolar ng Bayan to the PUP Sta. Mesa Campus for Academic Year 2026–2027, despite the rainy weather and muddy grounds.
Held at the PUP Oval, the biannual event brought together thousands of students from various academic levels, along with student organizations, artists, advocates, event partners, and sponsors. The gathering provided students with opportunities to unwind, meet new peers, forge friendships, and engage in various activities as they prepared for the academic challenges ahead.
The PUP Oval came alive with colorful booths, banners, and activities organized by student organizations, event partners, and sponsors. Students explored the different booths and participated in activities, while student leaders and organizations also used the occasion to engage the university community in discussions on education and current social issues.
The PUP Sentral na Konseho ng Mag-aaral (PUP-SKM), the main organizer of Balik Sinta and prime representative of the student body of PUP System, issued a statement via Facebook regarding the event’s main objective and rationale.
“Ngayong taon ay bitbit natin ang panawagang #PUPBadyetItaas dahil ang danas ng mga PUPian ay mag-uugat sa kakulangan sa badyet ng pamantasan,” the statement read.
(This year, we carry the call for #PUPBadyetItaas (Increase PUP Budget) because the realities faced by PUPians are rooted in the university's lack of budget.)
Balik Sinta represents more than just the start of a new academic year—it symbolizes the collective voice of PUP’s students. It is a platform for activism, reinforcing the PUP Community’s deep-seated commitment to progress and change.
Student activism is one of the most defining traits in PUP students and a prevalent culture in the Sintang Paaralan, where the community fosters free thought and critical dialogue. As Balik Sinta continues to thrive, PUP stands strong in its commitment to remain a stronghold of student-led advocacy and progressive change.
The continued success of this burgeoning tradition reflects the prevailing University culture of student-led initiatives— aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, SGD 10: Reduced Inequalities, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
