Dr. Jerielyn V. Reyes, News, Institute for Continuing Professional Development
700 PhilHealth employees from all over the Philippines recently took part in the Civil Service Examination (CSE) Review, which was conducted by the Institute of Continuing Professional Development (ICPD) of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP). The program ran from March 6 to 22, 2023, via MS Teams Meet. It was aimed to equip PhilHealth staff with the necessary knowledge and understanding of the CSE coverage.
The review covered various topics, including Abstract and Numerical Reasoning, General Information on Public Constitution, Code of Conduct of Ethical Standards for Public Officials, Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Environment Management and Protection, among others.
Faculty members from the College of Science (CS), the College of Arts and Letters (CAL), College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD), Ragay, and Mulanay worked together as trainers of all 14 batches of reviewees.
A pre-test was given to all participants prior to the actual review, and the trainers used it as a guide for their lessons. On its final day, a post-test was taken, and the results showed that there was a significant improvement.
Officials from PUP Open University, led by its Executive Director, Dr. Carmencita L. Castolo, and the ICPD Director, Dr. Evangelina S. Seril, spoke at the closing ceremony on March 24, 2023.
Atty. Eli Dino Santos, the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of PhilHealth, together with Dr. Dennis S. Mas, the Senior Vice President on Management Services Sector and HRD Representatives, also encouraged and inspired the participants to do well in their respective exams, with the hope of achieving a high passing rate for all applicants.
The PhilHealth management initiated this project to enhance the skills of their employees and make it easier for them to secure plantilla jobs. The partnership between PUP ICPD and PhilHealth also aimed to include additional capability programs, providing valuable training to PhilHealth employees across the country.
