Two years after its implementation, the pioneer graduates of the K to 12 curriculum of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) marched for the first Senior High School Commencement Exercises held at the Fil-Oil Flying V Arena in San Juan City on April 30, 2018.
More than 5,000 students were qualified for graduating the academic requirement of additional two years for high school in their chosen track and strand.
San Juan City Mayor Guia G. Gomez, Senator JV G. Ejercito and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Herminia E. Manimtim led the ceremony divided in three clusters.
"Hindi alintana ang edad para makatulong sa bayan. Marami tayong bayani na nakagawa ng pagbabago sa murang edad," Ejercito said to the graduates.
On the other hand, PUP President Emanuel C. De Guzman and PUP- Senior High School Principal Dr. Minna L. Comuyog congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continue studying for a college degree.
After the distribution of diplomas, Liebert Nyle Villarba, Precious Heide Principe and Genesis Arnisto, respectively, served as representatives for their clusters in delivering the Thanksgiving Speech.
The ceremony concluded in the singing of the PUP hymn.
