The Office of Scholarship and Financial Assistance aims to democratize access to educational opportunities for economically-challenged but academically brilliant students so that they will have a better chance to pursue their chosen academic goals. The programs are categorized as merit-based scholarship for academic, non-academic, and special grants, and financial and non-financial grants.
The office is divided into three sections: PUP Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance and other Special Grants, Government Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance, and Private Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance. The processes include generating financial sponsorship from the government agencies, nongovernmental organizations, foundations, and private entities, facilitating selection of scholars, processing requirements of scholars, requesting scholarship fund releases, preparing the scholars' academic status report, and observing strict implementation of the legal agreements.
The PUP Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance and other Special Grants includes the student assistantship program, entrance scholarship program, cash award for bar and board examination topnotchers, education tool support, and other special grants. The Government Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance includes the processing of the Tertiary Education Subsidy Program (TES), TES-Tulong Dunong Program (TES-TDP), Tulong Dunong Program for State Universities and Colleges (TDP-SUC), and assists in the validation of other government programs such as the Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Program, CHED Scholarship Program, and Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund - Grants-In-Aid for Higher Education Program. (ACEF-GIAHEP). The Private Funded Scholarship and Financial Assistance includes all private individuals, nongovernmental organizations, foundations, and private entities who have official partnership with the university through a Memorandum of Agreement or memorandum of Understanding. The office also collaborates with other potential benefactors.
