Christopher G. Andres, photographer and layout artist for the university, won in the online photography contest organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC). He took the top spot for the National Capital Region, besting 35 other entries in the competition with the theme: “Transforming Public Servants Towards Resiliency.”
“Nag-start talaga ang aking photography career sa PUP. As layout artist, we are expected to be creative and flexible, so the versatile nature of our work encouraged me to venture towards photography. Talagang nahasa ang aking skills sa mga ginagawa naming creative projects dito sa University,” Andres shared in a short interview. He is a member of the Creative Media Services (CMS) unit of the Communication Management Office. In 2020, he also won the same competition.
The CSC competition was held last September, but due to several health and logistical concerns, the awarding ceremony took place only last November 25 at the Mateo Conference Room. University President Manuel M. Muhi, Vice President for Branches and Satellite Campuses Dr. Pascualito B. Gatan, Human Resource Management and Development Director Atty. Michelle Kristine Saraum, Communication Management Office – CMS Chief Asst. Prof. Buellah May Convento, along with other university officers, graced the short awarding ceremony.
Mr. Andres has since been bringing accolades to the university. Last year, he copped one of the country’s prestigious awards for visual artists during the 2021 Ani ng Dangal (Harvest of Honors) spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). He was one of the 63 artists from various fields recognized for earning international arts and culture awards and accolades.
