Cheers of excitement, vibrant energy, and the spirit of competition filled the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 22, as PUPians gathered to celebrate the opening of the University Intramurals 2024.
The event kicked off with a lively parade, with student-athletes from different colleges and branches marching from the campus oval to the gymnasium, proudly representing their respective teams and banners.
PUP President Manuel Muhi then delivered his message of support, capturing the essence of the intramurals and emphasizing the importance of community and sportsmanship.
“More than the competition, the intramurals highlights and promotes the PUP community, especially to the students, to foster camaraderie, athleticism, and good sportsmanship, to strengthen teamwork and build character,” he said during his speech.
Anchored on the theme, “PUP@120: Pagpupugay at Pasasalamat sa Labindalawang Dekada ng Makatao at Makabayang Edukasyon,” this year’s intramurals put the spotlight on the humane and patriotic spirit of the Sintang Paaralan.
“Ang ating intramurals ay sumasalamin [sa] celebration ng pagkakaisa, pagkakaibigan, at pagtataguyod ng makatao at makabayang diwa ng Sintang Paaralan,” President Muhi added
