The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), through its Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO), was recognized as a Silver Awardee by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Presidents’ Summit. It was held on April 10, 2025, at the Sequoia Hotel, Manila Bay, Parañaque City.
This award highlights IPMO’s excellence in innovation and remarkable achievements in 2024. PUP filed five utility models and five industrial designs, conducted 12 Intellectual Property (IP) Awareness trainings, 24 patent searches, two patent search trainings, and three patent draft trainings.
These achievements underscore the University’s commitment to intellectual property management and its dedication to fostering a culture of innovation among its researchers and academic community.
IPMO Director Dr. Ginno L. Andres expressed his pride in the university’s accomplishments, stating, “This recognition shows the hard work and dedication of our team. We are committed to nurturing innovation and protecting intellectual property, which are crucial for the advancement of our academic community and the nation as a whole.”
The 2025 ITSO Presidents’ Summit, anchored by its theme “Empowering ITSOs Towards Global Recognition of Innovation Breakthrough,” served as a platform to celebrate and acknowledge the collaborative efforts of stakeholders dedicated to advancing and protecting the nation’s IP assets. The event showcased the achievements of various ITSOs across the Philippines in the fields of innovation, technology transfer, and commercialization.
