PUP inks MOU with Varna University Management, Bulgaria

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Development, together with the College of Tourism, Hospitality and Transportation Management, and Varna University of Management signed a Memorandum of Understanding on January 12, 2021.

Varna University of Management (VUM) is a private university in Bulgaria established in 1996. VUM specializes on International Hospitality and Tourism Management, Culinary Arts, Business Management, and Software Engineering. They also have a Q3 Scopus-Indexed Journal entitled European Journal of Tourism Management.

“We are very pleased to see this MoU in place as it paves the way for great synergy between our two universities, combining PUP’s field presence with VUM’s expertise on tourism, hospitality, business and software systems,” said VUM Chancellor Dr. Todor Radev.

Meanwhile, PUP Vice President for Research, Extension and Development Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin expressed her gratitude to VUM, stating that the MoU will provide more opportunities to both organizations.

“This agreement will allow both organizations to contribute to improved coordination on academic and research opportunities, and also to ensure timely exchange of resources to the benefit of both universities,” said VP Gapasin.

Under the MoU, PUP and VUM’s research and academic sectors will collaborate though joint research projects, co-hosting of international conferences, exchange of faculty, students and academic materials.

Also present in the MoU signing were VUM Vice Chancellor for Research Dr. Stanislov Ivano, PUP Research Management Office Director Dr. Jackie D. Urrutia, PUP CTHTM Department of Tourism and Transportation Management Chair Prof. Lizbette R. Vergara, PUP International Affairs Director Prof. Jonna Karla Bien, and PUP Office of and Faculty Researcher for CTHTM Dr. Daryl Ace V. Cornell.
