More than 30 beneficiaries from Barangay 635 Manila participated in the extension activity titled: LET’s G.I.V.E (Gender, Instruction, Values, Environment), sponsored by Department of Humanities and Philosophy (DHP). In his introductory remarks for the program, Hon. Danilo San Bueno, the Chairman of Barangay 635, emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and barangays, particularly in the era of the advent of quick cybermedia technology and fake news. DHP Chairperson, Assoc. Prof. Jane Mendoza underscored the same idea on the significance of cooperation between PUP and the communities near the institution.
Alex Henon, a faculty from the DHP, discussed the importance of positive discipline among the parents. Parents actively participated in the sharing session with Mr. Henon. Jeniel Dasig, a faculty from the same department, led a story-telling activity among the teens and kids, stressing the importance of helping their community. Ms. Dasig culminated the session with an art activity. The activity concluded with a gift-giving in celebration of the Christmas season.
“We are thankful for the PUP that initiated this very meaningful activity which will surely give a positive impact on our barangay,” said Kagawad Bobby Rejoso.
