PUP confers MSCM degree to 28 Filipino engineers and architects abroad

A total of 28 Filipino engineers and architects abroad received their degree Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM) during the Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Open University (PUP-OU) 4th Commencement Exercises at the Four Seasons Hotel in Abu Dhabi on February 2, 2018.

More than half of the graduates are Filipino Civil Engineers while the others are architects, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers from Abu Dhabi (16) and Dubai (12).

The graduating class is composed of Romeo V. Alcantara, Gonzalo G. Avila, Elias T. Bacon, Rhalie E. Calalang, Serlindo N. Cortez, Jayson S. De Castro, Gerry I. Lugutan, Alain G. Manangan, Paul Gaby S. Sabillo, Rouchel R. Salonoy, Brian G. Tiu, Leandro C. Tuando, Blesil D. Apduhan, Michael F. Batiles, Ronald A. Castillon, Edgardo L. De Jesus, Jr., Donnie Ray D. Distrito, Erickhson B. Gabriel, Richard D. Licardo, Jamebel O. Mahan, Darwin R. Marte, Armando G. Perona Jr., Ariel A. Quisto, Aileen N. Reyes, Ric E. Reyes, Enrico G. Santiago, Jhondy D. Tibubos, and Esther B. Viloria.

Among the 12 graduates from Dubai, five of them including Apduhan, Castilon, Ligutan, Santiago and Manangan are all ASEAN engineer registered which were awarded by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO) from 2016-2017.

Vice Consul Von Ryan Pangwil of the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi served as commencement speaker during the event.

Meanwhile, PUP Board of Regent and President of the Federation of Alumni Association in PUP, Inc. Hon. Rene A. Tanasas, Head Executive Assistant and Executive Director of Open University System Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, Institute of Open and Distance Education Program Chair Dr. Carmencita L. Castolo, and College of Engineering Dean and MSCM Program Chair Dr. Guillermo O. Bernabe served as conferring officers of the event.

MSCM aims to prepare professionals for the operational, supervisory and managerial opportunities in the construction industry and to continuously enhance their overall competitiveness as professionals and entrepreneurs towards national productivity.
