Two groups of 4th year BS Accountancy student-researchers have successfully bagged 2nd Best Research Paper, Top 10 Finalist for Best Research Paper, and 3rd Best Research Paper Presenter in the recently held 1st Accounting Students Research Festival of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Committee of Research Development on April 2-3, 2022.
The study titled “E-Wallets as Tools in Controlling Cost for Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise in Metro Manila” was awarded as 2nd Best Research Paper Presenter and Top 10 Finalist. The group was comprised of Jess O. Busa, Mirra D. Danao, Guia Leighanne L. Guinto, Faye E. Hernandez, Anna Ross D. Pansacula, Jake Wyne P. Payas, Ria Salome A. Rante, Melisa R. Riola, and Gene Milborn T. Sapit.
“Finishing thesis requirements is actually our main goal, after passing the final defense, we already considered that as a job well done for our sleepless nights and hard work. Being part of PICPA’s 1st ASRF is something we didn’t expect but we’re beyond grateful to be part of this national competition among accounting students who share the same passion in the different fields of accountancy,” Pansacula shared.
Furthermore, “Crowdfunding as a form of financing for MSMEs in the National Capital Region” was hailed as 3rd Best Research Presenter. John Matthew E. Abad, Mark Wilson B. Apuyan, Ma. Yvonne B. BiatoJhayan G. Luna, Ezra Kate M. Mediana, Kyla Myles G. Merilles, Aileen A. Mitra, Arron Paul M. Montero, and Joyce U. Panolino undertook this research.
Both groups are from BS Accountancy and were supervised and guided by Dr. Marvin Lascano, their Accounting Research adviser.
The research festival was organized in partnership with PwC Philippines and in cooperation with the PIPCA Foundation Committee on Research & Development and the National Association of CPAs in Education.
The event’s purpose has shown that Accountancy students not only excel in the field of auditing and accounting, but in the fields of research and development as well.
