The Philippine Social Science Council, Inc. (PSSC) officially welcomed the College of Social Sciences and Development as its associate member in a simple ceremony held via zoom last February 18.
PSSC is a non-stock, non-profit, non-governmental, and non-sectarian organization for scientific, cultural, and educational purposes. Today, PSSC is one of the country’s longest-running and financially viable non-profit organizations.
It has carved its niche as a base for developing social science scholarship and training, and a repository of social science resources in the country. Through the efforts of social science dedicated and loyalists, Dr. Mercedes Concepcion, Fr. Frank Lynch, Dr. Cristina Parel, Dr. Eufronio Alip and Dr. Armand Fabella, the first executed board of PSSC was constituted in 1968.
On September 29, 2022, the Philippine Historical Association (PHA) as a regular member of PSSC, endorsed the application for membership of the PUP-CSSD to the council.
Following a thorough review of the application and consequent endorsement by the membership committee, the PSSC board of trustees approved the college’s application as a PSSC associate member on the 30th day of January 2023.
