In line with their advocacy to promote financial literacy, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines- Junior Financial Executives (PUPJFINEX) conducted the 4th Metro Finance Congress (MFC) at Bulwagang Balagtas, Ninoy Aquino Learning and Library Resources Center last December 5. It has the theme: “4th Metro Finance Congress: Transforming Young Financial Mind.”
Melvin De Vera of the Oakbridge Institute talked about investment and the importance of establishing the credibility of the company or the person before investing: “Ang investment pinag-iisipan.”
Other speakers include: Daniel Brodman, who discussed financial technology and home credit, while Sharon O. Ang of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) talked about the monetary policy in financial institutions. Ang emphasized the three main objectives of BSP which are: (1) to promote price stability, (2) to promote financial stability and, (3) to supervise and promote policies for financial institutions.
Bret Michael Urmeneta discussed about Financial Analysis and Reporting and Lowell Tiu of COL Financial talked about Personal Finance.
The Ethics in Financial Institution was discussed by Irene P. Sarmiento of the Sun Life Canada (Philippines) Inc. wherein she mentioned the importance of savings. ”The younger you start saving, the more it will accumulate," she told the audience.
This year’s delegates come from PUP, New Era University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina, and the National College for Business and Arts – Cubao. The Metro Financial Congress was first established on 2016. Students across Metro Manila taking finance and other business-related courses attend this gathering. ###
