The University through the Extension Management Office (EMO) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) launched PUP Lingap Komunidad: A Call for Donations, a donation drive for families left homeless by the recent fire incident that swept houses in a residential area neighboring the PUP College of Communication building in Road 12, Brgy. 628 Anonas Street, Sta. Mesa Manila.
On November 2, a fire sparked around 3:21 PM in the said barangay that affected at least 600 families. As of now, the evacuees are staying in six evacuation centers managed by the Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), Barangay officials and Manila Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO).
