The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) has recently established significant scholarship partnerships with renowned organizations, reinforcing its commitment to broadening education opportunities for its students. These collaborations aim to support financially challenged students and equip them with the necessary tools for success.
One of the notable events was the courtesy call and fund turnover with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Spouses Association on March 24, 2023. PUP had the privilege of welcoming representatives from ADB and the Spouses Association to their prestigious offices. During the event, scholarship funds were ceremoniously turned over to deserving students from various academic programs for the 2022–2023 school year. The ADB and Spouses Association have been perpetual benefactors, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to supporting educational endeavors.
Furthermore, a significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines, Inc. and PUP on April 13, 2023. The MOU solidified the partnership between Tzu Chi Foundation and PUP, ensuring continued support for 52 scholars enrolled for the 2022–2023 school year.
The collaboration aims to implement Tzu Chi’s Education Assistance Program (EAP), which provides financial aid to qualified and financially challenged students. Additionally, the partnership will involve community engagement activities, career talks, job fairs, internships, and knowledge exchange programs, promoting holistic development among the scholars.
In another significant development, PUP welcomed representatives from Charity First Foundation, Inc., led by its President, Mr. Gregorio Uy Jr., for a courtesy call on May 12, 2023. Charity First Foundation, Inc. is a Tsinoy social development and education NGO dedicated to improving the quality of life for marginalized sectors. Through their Education Program, they provide scholarship grants, values formation seminars, personality development workshops, and other related activities. Over the past 21 years, Charity First Foundation has supported 1,000 young individuals, helping them develop into productive and responsible citizens.
Finally, PUP has forged a new partnership with Sun Life Financial Asia Services Limited, one of the leading financial institutions, with a focus on the fields of Computer Science and IT. A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed on May 18, 2023, at the Sun Life Centre in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. Sun Life Financial Asia Services Limited will offer scholarship grants to deserving students pursuing studies in Computer Science or IT for the upcoming 2023–2024 school year. This collaboration marks Sun Life’s entry into supporting higher education and providing opportunities for students in these fields.
These scholarship partnership events highlight PUP’s commitment to empowering its students through financial aid and holistic development programs. By collaborating with esteemed organizations such as ADB, Tzu Chi Foundation, Charity First Foundation, and Sun Life Financial, PUP aims to create a brighter future for its students and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen fields.
