The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) was named as one of the grantees of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), establishing the DOST-PUP Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Pylon Hub. The event was held during the Grand Ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement Signing held at Sheraton Manila Hotel, Pasay City, October 17, 2024.
This funding was awarded under the DOST PCIEERD Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Program. It is aimed at empowering universities to foster innovation and support startups, build a TBI program, and serve as a startup enabler in building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the university with the vision on supporting the country’s economic development. The funding given will be used by the University to creating long-term opportunities for new entrepreneurs.
PCIEERD is one of the three sectoral planning councils under the DOST which works as the “central agency in the formulation of policies, plans, and programs as well as in the implementation of strategies in the industry, energy, and emerging technology sectors through the following S&T programs, including Support for Research and Development, Human Resource and Institution Development, S&T Information Dissemination and Promotion, Support for Technology Transfer and Commercialization, Policy Development and Advocacy.”
