PUP welcomes Freshmen

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines, headed by Office of the Vice President for Student Services, welcomed the newest batch of PUPians through the 2017 Freshman Orientation held at the Bulwagang Balagtas, PUP NALLRC on July 20, 2017.

The orientation, which was attended by freshmen from the different colleges and institutes, was conducted in order to provide them the basic information which will aid them in their stay in the university.

University President Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman delivered the welcome remarks wherein he reminded everyone to not take for granted their stay in the largest polytechnic university in the country.

“To be able to call yourselves PUPian is more than just a golden opportunity, but rather a unique opportunity because not everyone is given the chance [to study in PUP]”, said President De Guzman.

Executive Vice President and Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Herminia E. Manimtim also graced the event.

As part of the orientation, services offered by different departments and units were presented. The University Registrar’s Office (URO), Office of the Student Services (OSS),  Office of the Counseling and Psychological Services (OCPS), University Center for Culture and Arts (UCCA), Communication Management Office (CMO), Sports Development Office (SDO), ROTC/NSTP Office, as well as the Alumni Relations and Career Development Office (ARCDO), Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resource Center (NALLRC), Campus Ministry, and Medical/Dental Services provided a detailed overview of their departments.

In addition, different organizations were also introduced to provide students an overview of where they could hone their skills and talents outside of the classroom. 

Afterwards, an open forum was held in order to cater the questions and clarifications raised by the attendees.
