ABC Foundation, UPSKILLS+ donate uniforms and school supplies to new EOW students

Non-profit organizations A Better Chance (ABC) Foundation Inc. and UPSKILLS+ Foundation, Inc. presented donated brand-new school uniforms, bags, and school supplies to the new batch of Education on Wheels (EOW) students during a fellowship held on October 24 at the Better World Smokey Mountain Community Center in Tondo, Manila.

The donation benefitted 28 out of 40 incoming EOW students, who are set to begin their academic journey this November. Following the success of its inaugural batch, PUP secured a partnership with ABC Foundation Inc. and UPSKILLS+ Foundation Inc. to support a new batch of EOW students in Smokey Mountain, Tondo, Manila.

Dinna Sarmiento, Development Manager of ABC Foundation, Inc. expressed her gratitude to the University’s continuous and prosperous partnership, emphasizing that they “could not do it alone” in helping underserved Filipinos.

“Napakahalaga na meron kaming katulong sa paggawa nito, especially ang Open University ng PUP dahil nagbibigay ito ng opportunity sa ating mga Iskolars,” she said.

(It’s very important that we have partners in doing this, especially the Open University of PUP, because it provides opportunities for our scholars.)

Following the distribution, Inst. Ronrico L. Herbolario, Chief of the Admission and Registration Section at the PUP Open University System (OUS) Student Services Office briefed the students on academic enrollment requirements and the responsibilities expected of a PUPian.

With this latest initiative, PUP continues its commitment to expanding access to quality, inclusive education for underserved learners. More than 100 students have already benefited from the EOW program, which delivers flexible and accessible learning through the PUP-OUS. The effort also aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
