Global Rankings and Education Innovation Propel Sintang Paaralan's International Visibility

Sintang Paaralan continues to expand its presence in the global higher education landscape as recent milestones in international university rankings and education recognition programs highlight its growing work in innovation, sustainability, internationalization, and inclusive education.

Among its latest milestones is its debut in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, where the University placed 1,333rd worldwide, 90th in the Philippines, and 807th in Asia.

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings recognize universities for their commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible practices, assessing institutional efforts across infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, transportation, water, and education and research.

Sintang Paaralan’s entry into the global sustainability ranking marks another step in advancing initiatives that promote environmental responsibility and sustainable development. These efforts contribute to SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, and SDG 13: Climate Action.

The University likewise earned multiple recognitions in the QS Reimagine Education Awards 2026, showcasing the breadth of its initiatives in education, internationalization, digital transformation, inclusive learning, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and community engagement.

Among the recognized initiatives are:

• Transformative Education for PDL

• FINALAWAK: Global Financial Management Internationalization, an internationalization program of the Department of Financial Management

• PUP SINTA Digital Assistant

• Nurturing Ethical Governance for BARMM, involving the Australia Awards and the PUP Graduate Diploma in Project Management Program for BPDA officials

• PUPreneurship: Innovative Business Leadership Education

• WATT-A-RIDE Solar Initiative

• Reimagining Internships as Inclusive Bridges (Tatak InclOUSibo)

• WHEELS OF HOPE (Education on Wheels)

• Project P.I.L.L.A.R, which was shortlisted after placing within the top 25 percent among more than 2,200 projects received

Together, these initiatives demonstrate a multidimensional approach to transforming higher education by addressing emerging social, technological, economic, environmental, and governance challenges.

The recognized programs likewise advance several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Inclusive and innovative learning initiatives support SDG 4: Quality Education, while programs that promote inclusive participation and opportunities contribute to SDG 5: Gender Equality. The WATT-A-RIDE Solar Initiative advances SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, while entrepreneurship and internship initiatives support SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.

Digital and technological initiatives contribute to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, while programs serving persons deprived of liberty (PDL) and other underserved sectors support SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities. Community-oriented initiatives advance SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, ethical governance programs contribute to SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and international and institutional collaborations reinforce SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

Through academic programs, research, innovation, partnerships, digital transformation, and sustainability initiatives, the University contributes to the global higher education community while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and creating opportunities that respond to the needs of learners and communities.

These achievements further advance Sintang Paaralan’s vision of becoming a leading comprehensive polytechnic university in Asia and its mission to provide inclusive, equitable, and globally relevant polytechnic education in support of national development.
