Star8 Green Technology donated 10 units of e-tricycles to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) during a simple turnover ceremony held on July 28 at the Nemesio Prudente Park, organized by the General Services Office (GSO). PUP President Manuel M. Muhi signed the deed of donation with Star8 Green Managing Engr. Ronald Laurel. Other PUP executive officials present during the ceremony include Vice President for Administration Adam Ramilo, Vice President for Research, Extension and Development Ana Ruby Gapasin, and Executive Vice President Alberto Guillo.
“Hindi nawala ang pakikibaka. Kapag ang PUPians ay nakibaka, hindi tumitigil. Noon, for academic freedom; ngayon naman ay freedom natin sa malinis na hangin,” Engr. Laurel remarked during the turnover. As a Civil Engineering alumnus of our Sintang Paaralan, he believed in the capacity of PUPians to share the same advocacy of creating a cleaner and more sustainable environment for generations to come.
President Muhi gratefully accepted the units and affirmed Engr. Laurel’s advocacy for a cleaner and greener environment. During his message of acceptance, President Muhi said it is high time to promote green technology especially in developing mass transportation. The partnership with Star8 extends to collaborations on research and development particularly with the College of Engineering (CE) and the Institute of Technology (ITech), trainings for faculty members, and livelihood opportunities for PUP-assisted cooperatives.
“Taus-puso kaming nagpapasalamat sa Star8 Green para sa donations na ito. Makakaasa kayong kasama niyo kami sa panawagan para sa mas malinis na kapaligiran,” President Muhi quipped.
Recipients of the 10 units include the Office of the President, Facility Management Office (FAMO), Safety and Security Office, Ninoy Aquino Library and Learning Resources Center (NALLRC), Central Records Office, University Canteen and Catering Services, College of Communication (COC), College of Engineering (CE), Institute of Technology (ITech) and M.H. del Pilar Campus. Respective heads of each recipient office were present during the ceremony.
Star8 Green Philippines is described as an “innovative technology company, continuously introducing new green technology products and applications.” The company led by Engr. Laurel was officially launched on 2016 but has been promoting green technology since 2014. Major initiatives include green building, green community, and green transport, all powered by solar energy.
