Polytechnic University of the Philippines’ short film entry entitled 'Monthsary' bagged the first place at the Metro Manila Film Festival's (MMFF) Cinephone Festival 2012 announced on November 12.
Cinephone Festival is a category under the New Wave Section of the MMFF created by the Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Francis N. Tolentino. It is a cellphone movie-making contest for high school and college students nationwide.
One winner in the high school level and one in the college level were chosen from a number of entries from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The said festival, with the theme "Restoring Road Courtesy Among Motorists and Pedestrians", chose 'Monthsary' as the top college level entry for Luzon.
Roni S. Benaid, Director of 'Monthsary' and part of the Creative Media Artists Society (CMAS), and the Creative Media Services Office under the Communications Management Office will receive P25,000.00 cash prize, a smartphone, a digital camera, and an apprenticeship under award-winning director Paul Soriano during the MMFF awards night on December 27.
