The Polytechnic University of the Philippines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rotary Club of Fort Bonifacio Global City and the Rotary Club of Cheonan, South Korea to carry out a Rotary Foundation grant-funded project to improve the Information Technology Education (ITE) resources and to foster a conducive learning environment in the University. The event was held on May 8, 2024 at the CCIS Laboratory Room S504.
University President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi and Rotary Club of Fort Bonifacio Global City President Sandra Cheng led the MOU signing. This strategic partnership of the College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS) and the two Clubs aimed to provide supplemental online learning resources, as well as improving PUP’s facilities with computer units and other equipment. This initiative aligns with the broader goal of fostering a tech-savvy workforce that can contribute to the national and global technology sectors.
Another key factor in this formed association is the close collaboration with the Rotary Club, a community-based organization known for their great expertise and dedication to their activities. Through this, the University will receive support in building infrastructures, promoting the University’s advocacies, and facilitating training while adhering to the reporting and auditing requirements set forth by The Rotary Foundation, ensuring efficient, transparent, and accountable utilization of resources.
The partnership serves as a foundational agreement, creating a path towards the successful implementation of the project funded by The Rotary Foundation. While its primary focus remains on the collaboration between the two parties, it also extends to foster a holistic approach to community development. In essence, the Global Grant aims to significantly improve the educational experience for CCIS students, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges and opportunities in the tech industry.
