The PUP Alumni Relations and Career Development Office (ARCDO) successfully held the Career Talk 2025 with the theme, “Career Sync: Connecting Campus to Corporate,” on June 10 at the PUP Gymnasium. Gathered for an inspiring event were the third- and fourth-year students from the College of Computer Information and Sciences (CCIS), who directly learned from industry leaders and alums from P&G, sharing valuable insights on career planning, interview strategies, and the latest developments in AI technology.
ARCDO Director Engr. Florinda Oquindo emphasized the relevance of exclusive Career Talk for the students, stating, “The students have direct access to employers and can engage face to face with recruiters and representatives. So they can gain insights into company culture, expectations, and hiring processes. Also, the career clarity and inspiration so that students can have exposure to real-world roles and industries can inform our students in their career choices.”
Key sessions during the event featured Bryan Layug, IT Operations Manager at P&G, who emphasized the importance of continuous learning and professional networking; Lance Salazar, HR Manager, who introduced the CAR (Context, Action, Result) method and discussed P&G’s distinctive hiring approach; Mark Jerome San Pedro, a DOST scholar and cum laude graduate, who encouraged students to embrace upskilling and resilience; and Renz Espino, Technical Lead, who showcased ChatGPT and highlighted the transformative impact of AI through real-world applications.
University President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi graced the event with a visit to show his support and observe the proceedings. The event concluded with a group photo opportunity and a strong sense of readiness for the future.
The Career Talk 2025 has set CCIS students on a promising path toward their IT futures through giving useful tools and real-world perspectives. The overall impact is to bridge the gap between education and employment. Thus, the university will continue to promote a proactive career mindset among students and attain career-ready institution in the eyes of industry and students.
