Dr. Carmencita L. Castolo, current Dean of the PUP Graduate School, was bestowed the most prestigious award of the Asia Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators or APCoRE during the organization’s 2016 International Conference held in Pattaya, Thailand on September, 2016.
Dr. Matthew A. Eichler of Texas State University and the Chairman of the Organization, Dr. Racidon P. Bernarte, Executive Director, and other members of the International Advisory Council from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Japan handed the award to the Graduate School dean.
The award recognizes Dr. Castolo’s significant contribution in the field of transnational education. According to the citation,
“Our honoree is an education innovator, a consummate educational manager, and a recognized leader in the advancement of meaningful reforms in transnational education. Her lifelong mission is to ensure delivery of quality education in the most unstructured, informal and non-traditional approach which provides great access to professional students, practitioners, and alternative learners.”
The award also extols Dr. Castolo’s audacity. The citation reads:
“And with her unparalleled and unflinching commitment, our honoree never cowed to face challenges from various fronts. She audaciously confronted problems relating to technological limitations, content development, bureaucratic systems and processes which could have otherwise forced an unversed to bow down.”
“Dr. Castolo’s award brings another pride to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines”, Dr. Joseph Mercado, Vice President for Research, Extension, Planning and Development, who witnessed the ceremonies noted.
