In time for the Fire Prevention Month, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas (ABP) to promote cooperation in firefighting and other disaster relief efforts.

The signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was held on February 26, 2021 between PUP Vice President for Research, Extension and Development Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin and ABP President Mr. Leninsky Bacud.

Under the MoU, ABP agreed to conduct fire and disaster management drills and seminars among PUP students, faculty, and administrative personnel at least twice a year. This is to help educate the PUP community of standard safety measures, policies, systems, and programs about fire and rescue.

PUP, in turn, pledged to provide professional growth, human development, and educational interventions among ABP firefighters and rescue workers  to ensure their growth and positive well-being.

This partnership between PUP and ABP will continue until 2024.
