Non-Traditional Study Program (NTSP) offers a self-paced learning approach that evaluates and accredits a student's prior education, professional experiences, and accomplishments using a specific rating system. This accreditation process allows individuals in executive and supervisory positions within fields related to their chosen program to potentially complete both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
As defined in Section 3 of Republic Act (RA) 12124 – the ETEEAP Act, enacted on March 3, 2025, the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program is a comprehensive alternative learning program offered by the government for tertiary education. It is based on academic equivalency, accreditation, validation, and recognition of prior learning—knowledge and expertise gained through relevant work experience and formal, non-formal, and informal training that helps harness the student’s full potential. As an integral part of the tertiary education system, ETEEAP allows individuals, including high school graduates, senior high school graduates, post-secondary technical-vocational graduates, and college undergraduates, to obtain an undergraduate degree. It also provides an opportunity for working professionals who were unable to finish or advance in college, or those who have earned a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a special graduate degree, without going through traditional schooling methods.
Using equivalency competence standards and a comprehensive assessment system that employs written tests and combined assessment methodologies, a higher education institution may administer competency-based evaluations as the basis for accrediting learning experiences.
A panel of assessors is convened to evaluate the candidate's knowledge, skills, and attitudes relevant to a particular discipline. Based on this assessment, equivalent credits, along with the appropriate certificates and degrees, are awarded by the administering higher education institutions
