The success of a program depends on the relevance and responsiveness of the curriculum to the dynamic and evolving nature of the industry, to the needs of the community, and to the development of the nation and of the world. Hence, the importance of reviewing, assessing and improving the curriculum at least every three years.
The use of technology, the dominance of social media, the power of data mining, the challenge on data privacy, the increase of propaganda and disinformation, and the continuing threat to freedom and democracy are the many reasons to strengthen the media and the practice of responsible journalism. The academe’s role is to provide a learning environment with a relevant curriculum responsive to the national and global issues facing the society.
The need for the continuing development of the curriculum contributes to the vision of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in becoming The National Polytechnic University.
