Education on Wheels

The Education on Wheels (EOW) program was launched in October 2021 to address the educational access gap in underprivileged communities.

What is EOW?

• A bus converted into a mobile classroom, complete with collapsible tables, chairs, whiteboards, and even solar-powered energy for air-conditioning and devices.
• It brings free Bachelor of Science in Office Administration classes directly to the homes of learners, especially targeting out-of-school youth, single parents, working individuals, and marginalized sectors.
• Initially rolled out in Smokey Mountain, Tondo, the program expanded in January 2024 to Payatas and Tatalon in Quezon City.

Behind the scenes: Partnerships & Support

• PUP OUS has a longstanding collaboration with the Sandiwaan Center for Learning (SCL) formalized in June 2021 via a Memorandum of Agreement.
• The bus used was generously donated by Century Peak Corporation, while SCL manages student recruitment and logistics.
• Through community support and donor contributions, learners are provided with food allowances, Wi-Fi, laptops, and school modules.

Testimonies

• Marimar Eder, a mother of two, shared: “We cannot afford much… apart from free school supplies, we are fortunate enough to enter college.” Multiple class schedules, day and night, enable working students and parents to join in.
• Alicia del Rosario-Mamorno from Tatalon expressed profound gratitude: “EOW is an important opportunity… the fact that it is free is already a boost in itself.”
• Rex Mandevil, a community volunteer from Payatas, said: “This is really a big opportunity… we should continue to persevere in our everyday lives.”
